Sharing Library and Repair Café Network Development Meeting
Circular Communities Scotland would like to invite you to our first Sharing Library and Repair Café Network Development Meeting.
Our New Network
In conjunction with Edinburgh Remakery and Edinburgh Tool Library, Circular Communities Scotland is looking forward to setting up and overseeing a nation-wide sharing library and repair café network. This is a £310,000 project, supported by Scottish Government and Zero Waste Scotland.
The network, which we intend to build to be self-sustaining, was announced by Cabinet Secretary for Net Zero Michael Matheson at the WWF Pavilion in the Blue Zone of COP26 on Thursday the 11th of November 2021.
The scheme aims to significantly increase sharing and repair facilities across the country, in order to reduce consumption and offer Scottish communities sustainable and affordable alternatives to buying new. This aligns directly with our vision to see a thriving circular economy in Scotland, with communities benefiting from the social, environmental and economic impacts. Read more about the scheme here.
Development Meeting Information
We invite all interested parties, members, organisations and individuals who would like to learn more, people, groups or organisations interested in setting up their own repair café or sharing library, as well as Circular Communities Scotland members already involved in repair café and sharing library projects, to our first development meeting.
We will discuss these exciting plans and hope to gain attendees input into the next steps for the project.
In addition, we will also be looking to form a Steering Group from our membership to guide the project going forward. If this sounds like something you would like to be involved with, please consider letting us know at the meeting.
