We are delighted that CRNS has secured an extension to our Circular Economy Investment Funding, via Zero Waste Scotland, contributing to the cost of running the Reuse Consortium.

This one year extension to the previous 2 year funding package, will enable the Consortium Co-ordinator to continue in post to further develop the growth of the Consortium business with Local Authorities and Housing Associations. It will also support the crucial work to re-tender for the Scotland Excel Framework contract to take effect from November 2020.

Other exciting news from the Consortium is that Aberdeenshire Council has decided to extend their commitment to purchasing reuse furniture beyond the initial pilot area of Peterhead.  In the New Year we will be providing furniture to the Council in the Fraserburgh and Banff areas also. The feedback from both the Council officers and from beneficiaries has been extremely positive  and encouraging.

Scottish Government Procurement have produced this blog and video, highlighting the Reuse Consortium to demonstrate the potential for the public sector to use their procurement powers to create a more circular and sustainable economy. The video also showcases our Consortium member, Second Opportunities and the great work they do providing reuse furniture and white goods to Renfrewshire Council.
